Swirlix

Swirlix is a Fairy-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VI. It is known as the Cotton Candy Pokémon.

Swirlix's name comes from the world swirl, due to it being based in a cotton candy, and to make one you have to pick up the cotton by swirling, and a corruption of lick, ending up like lix. Its Japanese name, Peroppafu (ペロッパフ), is a mix from the words peropero, which is the Japanese onomatopoeia for lick, and pafu, which means to blow.

This Pokémon is based in a Japanese belief, where cotton candy (as well as other candies and sweets) is linked to fairies, as well as in Occidental cultures, where it is linked to the ethereal, just as it can be observed in Will Cotton's paintings. This Pokémon's type is also reafirmed by the Australian name given to cotton candy, fairy floss.

Swirlix is a Pokémon that loves candies and eats anything more, that's why its body is sweet and sticky, just as cotton candy. In battle, Swirlix shoots threads made of candy to tie other Pokémon. It possesses some feet that it hides in its fur when floating in the air.

Swirlix evolves to Slurpuff when traded while holding a Whipped Dream. Both Swirlix and Slurpuff are pure Fairy-type Pokémon.

Swirlix has balanced stats, but Defense is its best stat, but with moves like Cotton Guard, that high Defense can become a wall. Swirlix can learn varied moves, including Fairy-, Grass-, Electric-type moves, among others.
