Donphan

Donphan is a Ground-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It is known as the Armor Pokémon.

This Pokémon's name comes from don, referencing its tusks, and the phan comes from elephant, animal in which Donphan is inspired. Its Japanese name is Donfan (ドンファン), only changing the ph with f, probably because of Japanese pronunciation.

Donphan is a strong and sturdy Pokémon. It usually lives in mountains and grasslands, or even in the entrances to dark caves. It possesses strong jaws that grow with the Pokémon when it is trained. Just as a normal elephant, this Pokémon is not very friendly, and won't hesitate to attack when in danger. It can be a really tough opponent.

Donphan use their enormous trunks to cause landslides and to destroy giant rocks. They have an armor that runs along through their body from the tail to the trunk and sturdy rings in their legs. When rolling up their body they have really strong Attack and Defense, being able to roll over big and tough things, and can stop it easily. In their mating season, it is dangerous to get close, because they start rolling around without control of themselves, and due to their hard armor, they can resist many things.

Donphan have a really powerful sense of smell, being able to identify rare minerals. Its great strength, speed and tough body let it walk in slippery mud, even allowing it to remove it completly. Even though, Donphan can destroy houses.

Phanpy evolves into Donphan at level 25. Both Phanpy and Donphan are pure Ground types.

Donphan is much of a physical attacker, having really high stats in Attack and Defense, but low Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense and even lower Speed. If raised correctly, this can be a huge physical powerhouse.
